Walk through history

Step right into the Drenthe countryside

The surroundings are a true paradise for hikers. From the campsite, you can easily reach a variety of natural areas where peace, space, and diversity take center stage. Each area has its own unique character and invites you to explore — whether alone, with friends, or with the whole family.

The Reestdal is renowned for its intimate landscape, with winding paths, wooded banks, and streams – a peaceful, almost timeless setting.

Holtingerveld surprises visitors with vast heaths, forests, and open plains, where impressive hunebedden stand as silent witnesses to thousands of years of history. And don’t miss National Park Dwingelderveld, Europe’s largest continuous wet heathland, perfect for long walks and breathtaking panoramic views.

The wetlands around Giethoorn and the Weerribben are easily accessible. Wander past reed beds, ditches and bridges, with plenty of opportunities to spot birds and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

The hiking trails vary from short detours to longer treks, offering something for every pace and every age. Whether you prefer a relaxed stroll or a more challenging walk, there is always a route that suits you.

In every season, the landscape reveals a different side of its beauty: fresh green in spring, warm and vibrant in summer, peaceful in autumn, and serene in winter.

After a day outdoors, it is wonderful to return to the campsite. Hiking from Het Hazenpad means enjoying nature, silence, and the space to fully recharge.
